Singapore Taxi Maximum Passenger Configuration
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Carrie

the maximum number of passengers for a taxi in Singapore is follows:

a. 4 adults, or

b. 3 adults + 2 children, or

c. 2 adults + 3 children, or

d. 1 adult + 4 children, or

e. 6 children

(Note: children = under 12 years old)

So it's not possible to pack 3 adults and 3 children into a Singapore taxi.

Leaving from Airport

1. If you are travelling from the airport, you could hire a Maxi-Cab (Mercedes Vito Van, 7-seater). It costs S$50 to any single destination in Singapore.

2. Or you could hire a SMRT Space MPV Taxi (7-seater). The fare from the airport? S$16 + metered fare. If you are travelling to somewhere near the airport, this option might save you some money.

Approach the transport counters at the Airport Arrival Hall for these 7-seater taxis.

Large Taxi for Point-to-point Travel

You could also book the SMRT Space MPV Taxi for point-to-point travel in Singapore. It costs $45. But you must book in advance.

2 normal taxi is cheaper?
by: Anonymous

I thought a normal taxi from Changi to city centre (like the Orchard area) is approximately Sgd20/way? Hiring 2 taxis is only sgd40/way. It is still cheaper than tje maxi-cab or the smrt mpv.

One Large Taxi or 2 Normal Ones?
by: Gabriel Tan

Dear all

thank you so much for the ideas on how to to save on taxi fare in Singapore.

Here are my thoughts...

1. If travelling with a few young children, a single large taxi might be more convenient. It might be worth spending the extra few dollars.

2. If only adults are travelling, 2 normal taxis may save you some money. (Or it might not if you are travelling long distances, e.g. Airport to Jurong West.)

Taxi 4A + 1C?
by: Anonymous

Can four adults and one 4-yr-old fit in one taxi in Singapore or do we have to go in two separate taxis? Please advise, thanks.

Hi there

Each taxi in Singapore is not allowed to carry 4 adults and 1 child. You need 2 taxis.

We are a family of 7. What will be the most cheapest way to go to Harbour Front from Changi airport. thank u for your help

Book a Maxi Cab at the Arrival Hall for $50. Or take the MRT: Changi Airport -> Tanah Merah -> Outram -> Harbourfront.
