Cost of Check-in Luggage for Budget Airlines in Singapore
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Siwwah

Cost of Check-in Luggage

1. As the cost of check-in luggage (budget airlines) changes regularly, it's better to check out this information directly from the budget airlines' website.

The cost of check-in luggage is usually reflected in the booking system, just before you click to finalise your ticket price.

2. I did a check as of 1 June 2009. Here are a few sample figures (cost of check-in luggage):

a. Tiger Airways: S$10 for the first 15kg

b. Jetstar: $15 for the first 20kg

c. Air Asia: S$2 for the first 15kg

Liquid Cosmetics in Hand-carried Luggage

Any liquid (including cosmetics) has to be contained in a transparent bottle no larger than 100ml. And all such bottles must fit into a transparent re-sealable plastic bag no larger 1 litre.

Have a good flight.

Full Service Airlines Do Not Charge for Basic Check-in Luggage
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Jayant

Full service airlines, such as Singapore Airlines, do give their passengers a check-in luggage allowance.

For most airlines, each economy class passenger is given a check-in luggage allowance of 20kg.

So you don't have to pay any luggage charges if you are within this limit.

Anything above the luggage allowance is charged according to the weight of excess luggage and the length of the journey.

Enjoy your flight with Singapore Airlines.

Charges for Excess Baggage Vary
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Lynn

The charges for excess baggage vary from airline to airline and according to the length of flight.

You need to contact your airline and provide your flight details - only they can tell you the charges for any excess baggage you may have.
