Vietnamese Passport and Entry Permit Issues

by Danson
(Singapore)

I plan to bring my Vietnamese girlfriend to Thailand on this April. Right now she is holding a one month short term entry permit till 22nd April 09. When we come back from Thailand, will her visa be affected or cancelled by the immigration authority?

Vietnamese Passport Holders Don't Need Visa to Enter Singapore
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Danson

I'm curious about the entry permit for your Vietnamese girlfriend.

According to this Singapore ICA webpage, it seems that Vietnamese passport holders do not need a visa for social visits to Singapore.

Is there a reason why your Vietnamese friend needs an entry permit to Singapore? Is this a requirement by the Vietnamese immigration authority?

I suggest that you call the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority's Call Centre (Tel: +65 6391 6100) for verification.

30-Day Validity for Vietnamese Passport Holder
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Danson

I checked with the ICA. They told me that Vietnamese passport holders do not need a visa to enter Singapore (social visits only).

At the point of entry into Singapore, a Vietnamese passport holder may stay in Singapore for up to 30 days without a visa. Of course the other requirements must be met, e.g. 6-month passport validity, onward/return ticket, etc.

So upon returning to Singapore, your Vietnamese friend may stay for up to 30 days in Singapore without a visa.

As I'm not an official spokesperson of the ICA, I advise you to call the ICA number above for confirmation. They'll put you through some waiting, but they do eventually answer your call.
