What are the means of transportation going from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur? What is the cheapest of them all but also a convenient one to take?
Hi Chumate
Transport from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur includes flights, buses and trains.
Flights from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur
Budget airlines serving the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur route include: Air Asia, Jetstar and Tiger Airways. Full-service airlines flying Singapore-KL include SIA and MAS.
On a good day, a discounted one-way ticket for Singapore-Kuala Lumpur on a budget airline may go as low as S$60+.
Buses from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur
A variety of buses (normal, VIP, Super VIP) leave from Golden Mile Complex on Beach Road Singapore for Kuala Lumpur.
There are many scheduled departures throughout the day. If you can sleep on a night bus, you may want to consider taking the night bus to KL, which usually leaves around 9-10pm.
A one-way ticket is likely to cost about $40-60, except during the eve of a holiday - when it increases by 20-30%.
A cheaper bus option is to take one of the Singapore-Johor buses from the Queen Street Bus Station to Larkin Bus Station in Johor Bahru. From Larkin, there are also several bus runs to Kuala Lumpur throughout the day. It's cheaper because the fares at Larkin are in Malaysian dollars.
Trains from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur
There are also trains leaving Tanjong Pagar Train Station in Singapore for numerous places in Malaysia, including Kuala Lumpur. It is not my preferred choice, but there are some interesting views at a few places along the way.
