Transit Visa for Singapore City Tour

by Mahesh Pore
(Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India)

Hi,

I and my wife are Indian passport holders flying Singapore Airlines from Ahmedabad (India) to Hong Kong and back.

On our return journey we have a stopover of about seven long hours at Singapore Airport and wish to utilise this time in taking a city tour from Changi Airport.

Please advise me the procedure for visa if needed and also the tour facility available to passengers in transit.

Singapore Visa & City Tour for Indian Passport Holders
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Mahesh

Getting Your Singapore Visa

As Indian passport holders, your wife and you will need a visa even for a 7-hour Singapore city look-see.

You have to get your social visit visa from a Singapore embassy in India, before you arrive in Singapore. Here are the locations you could approach:

Mumbai:
101, 10th Floor, Maker Chambers IV
222, Jamnalal Bajaj Road
Nariman Point, Mumbai 400-021
Tel: +91 22 22043205
Email: singcon_bom@sgmfa.gov.sg
http://www.mfa.gov.sg/mumbai

New Delhi:
E-6 Chandragupta Marg
Chanakyapuri
New Delhi 110021
Tel: +91 11 46000915
Email: singhc_del@sgmfa.gov.sg
http://www.mfa.gov.sg/newdelhi

Chennai:
17-A North Boag Road
T.Nagar, Chennai- 600017
Tamil Nadu, India
Tel: +91 44 28158207
Email: singcon_maa@sgmfa.gov.sg

Alternatively, you can also engage a travel agent in your city who has been given 'Trusted Agent' status by the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority. They can apply for a Singapore visa on your behalf. This will obviously incur for you an administrative fee, which is fixed by the travel agent.

Registering for the Free Singapore City Tour

Upon arrival at Singapore Airport, approach the Visitors' Centre within the transit area and register for the free Singapore city tour. With 7 hours, you may be assigned the option (of 2 choices) that fits your timing.

Else, you could register for the free city shuttle service (also within the transit area) that takes you to designated tourist spots in the city, and back.

by: Anonymous

Hi there

You're better off contacting the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority directly. Every other piece of advice here and elsewhere on the net is just guess work.

Sorry, but that's the better way to verify your visa requirement.

This thread is now locked. Please direct all your visa questions to the Singapore ICA. Thanks.
