Taking Pets Out of Singapore

I travelled to Singapore for 1 month, and I'm going home in 3 days' time. I bought 2 hamsters. I want to know: can I carry them back to Vietnam? Is there any problem for me or do I have to pay any tax for that? Thanks so much.

How to Export Your Pet Out of Singapore

Hi Thuy

There are 2 things you need to do quickly:

1. Contact the Agr-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) to find out the exact procedures for exporting personal pets from Singapore.

2. Contact your airline to make special arrangements to take your pets on board - animals are not allowed into the plane's cabin. You'll need to pay extra charges as carrying animals is more complicated than carrying checked-in luggage.

If all these are too troublesome, consider giving the hamsters away to someone who'll take care of them properly. Then buy new ones in Vietnam.
