Buying Alcoholic Drinks for Outbound Flight
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Ramnath

When you reach the duty-free shop at Singapore Airport, let the salesperson know which country you're going to.

They will advise you on how much alcoholic drinks you may buy, or none at all.

It depends a lot on your destination airport. Some countries do not have duty-free allowance for alcohol at all.

The duty-free shops keep a list of duty-free allowance for each country. Their sales staff will be able to advise you accordingly.

This applies to tobacco products as well.

why is it that i can purchase a litre of whisky at paris duty free. be assured that i can take it into australia and then have it confiscated from me on my transit at the singapore airport. i find that very annoying.

then to add insult to injury if i had bought the whisky at duty free singapore airport it would have been allowed through as it would have been handed to me at the boarding gate. this was the case as i saw this happen as we were boarding. a bit sus i think.
