Your Cake is Likely to Exceed Cabin Baggage Allowance
by: Gabriel

Hi Christine

1. first of all, some information about Cabin Baggage Allowance for airlines at Singapore Airport:

a. Each passenger is allowed to hand-carry only 1 piece of luggage into the cabin.

b. Maximum weight of this hand-carried baggage = 7kg (16 pounds)

c. Maximum dimension of length + breadth + height of baggage = 115cm

Example a bag that is within this limit:
Length = 60cm
Breadth = 25cm
Height = 30cm
Total = 115cm

2. Therefore, if you are already carrying your own bag into the cabin, you may not take a boxed wedding cake with you.

3. My hunch is that a wedding cake will exceed the dimensions allowed by the airlines. But if it goes through, you still need to figure out how to store it in the cabin. The overhead compartment is probably too small for it. So, it's either on your lap or with the cabin crew.

4. However, if you are flying Business or First Class, you may be allowed additional hand-carried luggage. You might want to check with your airline how much more you may take with you.

Hope this helps.
Gabriel
