Singapore Vacation - Four Days Four Nights
by Steve Young
(Canberra, Australia)
| Hi, my wife and I (no children) will be stopping off in Singapore for a four day break before heading back to Australia. I have visited before but it is my wife's first visit and I would like to maximise our stay. We arrive at lunchtime of the 4th Oct and depart early on the 8th, staying at an Orchard Road hotel. (Editor's note: Steve, I've taken note of your hotel, but I've removed the hotel name for privacy.) Preference is early morning and evening activities. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. The list is prioritised but can be ordered to suit any plan. 1. Night Safari (Zoo) 2. Kranji War Memorial 3. Haw Par Villa (Tiger Balm Gardens) 4. Singapore Flyer (Night) 5. River cruise (Admiral Cheng Ho Dinner Cruise) 6. Fort Canning (Surrender of Singapore) 7. Jurong Bird Park 8. Raffles – afternoon tea 9. Chinese/Japanese Garden 10. Chinatown Trishaw Night Tour Kind regards and thank you in advance. Steve & Vicki |
Hi Steve, Vicki
Something like this might work for you...
DAY 1 - RAFFLES HOTEL & SINGAPORE NIGHT SAFARI
The Raffles Hotel is a short MRT ride from your hotel.
Thereafter, you could take a taxi to the Night Safari.
Or if you plan to see a bit of a heartland town, you could take the MRT to Ang Mo Kio Station, have a walkabout around the town centre and, nearer the evening, take bus 138 from Ang Mo Kio Interchange for a leisurely ride to the Night Safari.
DAY 2 - FORT CANNING & JURONG BIRD PARK
Morning: Take a taxi to Jurong Bird Park, timing your trip to co-incide with the bird shows.
Afternoon: Visit the Battle Box at Fort Canning Park. This could be followed by a trishaw ride and the Singapore Flyer in the evening.
Note:
The trishaw rides now depart from the Albert Mall Trishaw Park near Queen Street. In October, a good route would be Little India because of the Deepavali Street Light Up.
DAY 3 - KRANJI WAR MEMORIAL, HAW PAR VILLA & CHENG HO DINNER CRUISE
Morning: Kranji War Memorial
Afternoon: Haw Par Villa
Evening: Dinner on the Admiral Cheng Ho Cruise
DAY 4 - BOTANIC GARDENS & CHINATOWN
Note:
I'm curious why you've requested to fit in the Chinese & Japanese Gardens. They are basically landscaped parks which usually come alive only during a few festivals and, IMHO, not worth the trip at other times.
As such, I'm counter-suggesting that you visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens on Day 4 morning. Particularly, have a look at the National Orchid Garden located within its compound.
Afternoon and evening could be spent in Chinatown. You could then culminate your trip with dinner at one of the excellent restaurants on Club Street, Chinatown.
Enjoy your Singapore vacation.
