A First-time Singapore Trip - Arriving by Train from Kuala Lumpur
| Hi! My wife and I will be traveling for the first time in Singapore this coming December 18th to 21st. Hope you could help us build our itinerary. Here's our tentative itinerary. December 18 - taking the earliest train trip to Singapore from KL. we still don't know how many hours it takes to travel from KL Sentral to Singapore. December 18 - Night Safari December 19 - Cultural & Heritage Walking Tours: We plan to visit the following: Chinatown, Little India, Hawker Food Centres December 20 - Sentosa (Universal Studios) December 21 - depart from Singapore to KL by train. Your Singapore trip plan looks very good to me. Seeing fewer places means you can see them well.
Here are some ideas I hope will make your Singapore trip more enjoyable:
Kuala Lumpur to Singapore by Train
The train trip from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore is likely to take you up to 7 hours, including stops, delays and such.
Another transport option is the VIP bus. Most times when I take the KL-Singapore bus, it takes about 5.5 hours.
Day 1 - Singapore Zoo & Night Safari
If you arrive early, consider spending the later part of the afternoon at Singapore Zoo which closes at 6pm, and is just beside the Night Safari.
1) Dinner at the Zoo/Night Safari is limited, in my opinion. So if you could pack something you like before going there, it'll be great.
2) Buy the 2-in-1 Park Hopper ticket to get some discount if you are visiting both the Zoo and Night Safari.
Day 2 - Chinatown and Little India
Both Chinatown and Little India are good for exploring on foot. There're lots of hawker centres at these 2 places:
In Chinatown:
1) Maxwell Road Food Centre
2) Chinatown Complex Food Centre
3) People's Park Food Centre
In Little India:
1) Tekka Market & Food Centre
2) Coffee shops around Mustafa Centre
Day 3 - Universal Studios Sentosa
You're likely to spend most of the day at Universal Studios. If you still have time in the late afternoon/evening, you could drop by one or two other fun spots in Sentosa, e.g.
1) Sentosa Luge and Skyride
2) Megazip
3) The Flying Trapeze
