Singapore Transit: What Happens to My Luggage?

I am travelling via Singapore Airlines from London to New Zealand, stopping over at the Transit Hotel for 12 hours. Will my luggage be placed in Lost and Found or will the airline hold it for the next flight?

How Luggage is Handled During a Singapore Transit

Hi Pat

Scenario 1: London-Singapore-NZ on a Single Ticket

If you're travelling London-Singapore-NZ on a single air ticket, yours is technically a 'transit stopover'. If this is the case, your checked in luggage will be automatically transferred to your onward flight from Singapore.

Question: How do you know if you fall into this category?

Answer: When you are also issued your Singapore-New Zealand boarding pass at London Airport.

Scenario 2: London-Singapore and Singapore-NZ on 2 Separate Tickets

If you've bought 2 separate flights, you'll need to clear immigration at Singapore Airport, collect your luggage and check in again.

If you are staying at Transit Hotel in this case, you'll proceed to the hotel first. After resting at Transit Hotel, you clear immigration, collect your checked in luggage from Lost & Found and check in for your onward flight.
