Singapore Transit: Transferring Between Terminals

I am flying from Mumbai to Melbourne with a 12.5 hour stopover at Singapore's Changi Airport.

Since it is a codeshare flight between Jet Airways(Mumbai to Singapore) and Qantas(Singapore to Melbourne), I arrive at Terminal 3 and have to depart from Terminal 1.

1) Since the check-in facility for the second leg of my journey begins only 3 hours before departure, and my luggage is through checked-in, I was wondering if I should stay in the Transit area of Terminal 3, or will I be allowed into the Transit Area of Terminal 1 much before my flight departs?

2) Also would you recommend the Free Singapore Tour?

Hi there

1. Moving between Transit Areas of Terminals @ Singapore Airport

All the transit areas of the 3 main terminals at Changi Airport are inter-linked - you can move from one to another by walking or using the Skytrain (monorail transport).

So you may certainly get to your departure terminal way before your onward flight.

2. Should You Take the Free Singapore Tour?

It depends on your arrival time at Singapore Airport. The free city tours run only during the day at specified times. But if you can fit the tour in, it's a nice little introduction to Singapore.

Also, there are lots of other leisure activities to keep you occupied within the airport's transit area. For example, you could watch movies or walk through several roof top gardens for free.

For a fee, you could also use the swimming pool at the Transit Hotel, or get a massage.
