by Li Xia
(Bangkok)

Hello. I am Chinese and I have to transit through Singapore Airport. One of the transit stops is about 11 hours. Do I need a visa for Sinpapore?

Thank you.

Visa Requirements Are Different Under Different Circumstances
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Li Xia

1) If you are not leaving the restricted transit area of Singapore Airport, you don't need a visa. Just make sure that you have your passport and boarding pass in place for your onward flight.

2) If you are leaving the airport, e.g. for a free Singapore city tour, you'll have to verify your requirements with the Singapore Embassy in Bangkok (or your home city).

Tell them what passport you hold and what other visas you may also have. They will advise your accordingly.

(Note: We've stopped answering questions about Singapore visa requirements here. Visa requirements change constantly and you should get the most updated information from the proper authority.)
