Singapore Tour Day 1:
Dinner & Shopping on Orchard Road

by: Gabriel Tan

1. After checking into your hotel and freshening up, have a buffet dinner near your hotel. Highly recommended are:

a. Carousel Restaurant
(Royal Plaza on Scotts Hotel)

b. Marriott Cafe
(Marriott Hotel)

2. Visit one or more of these malls on Orchard Road:

a. Far East Plaza

b. Tangs Superstore

c. Lucky Plaza

d. Paragon Shopping Centre

(These malls are in a sequential route on Orchard Road.)

3. End the evening with a drink at Peranakan Place, a cluster of colonial-era shophouses stretching from Orchard Road to Emily Hill Road.

Many popular restaurants and pubs now operate out of these quaint shophouses.

4. Backtrack to your hotel.

Note:
Get a free tourist map at the airport's Visitors' Centre or from your hotel. With this map, you'll know the exact locations the places on this itinerary.

Singapore Tour Day 3:
Jurong Bird Park & Singapore River

by: Gabriel Tan

Morning: Jurong Bird Park

1. Take the taxi to and back from the urong Bird Park. It'll save you time over taking the MRT + bus option.

2. As with the Singapore Zoo, pay attention to the show and feeding times at the Jurong Bird Park.

Afternoon & Evening: Singapore River

1. Take the MRT to Clarke Quay Station. Upon exit, head for the Hippo River Jetty at Clarke Quay.

2. Buy a Hippo River Day Pass, which allows you to hop-on-hop-off at various locations along the river until 10pm.

3. Explore the restaurants, museums, malls and other scenic spots along the Singapore River.

4. Stopover at Clarke Quay for dinner at one of the riverside restaurants.

5. After dinner, retrace the Hippo River Route again - the night views are different from the day views!

Singapore Tour Day 4:
Raffles Hotel, Bugis Bazaars & Trishaw Ride

by: Gabriel Tan

Morning: Raffles Hotel

1. After a late breakfast, take the MRT to City Hall Station. Exit and proceed to Raffles Hotel.

2. Visit the Raffles Hotel Museum (opens 10am-7pm daily), which stocks some very interesting artifacts of colonial Singapore.

3. Have a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar, followed by lunch at either the Tiffin Room (nice curries) or Doc Cheng's (nice everything).

Afternoon: Bugis Area + Trishaw Ride

1. Take the MRT to Bugis Station.

2. Visit the shops at Bugis Junction.

3. Then cross the road to check out the stalls at the Bugis Street Bazaar. At the end of Bugis Street, you should emerge onto Queen Street, where you'll find a few (or several) trishaw riders waiting for business near a food centre.

4. Walk beyond the food centre to Waterloo Street pedestrian mall, a very fascinating spot where you'll feel the true heartbeat of Singapore. Push-carts do a roaring business - selling items to devotees heading to the 2 temples nearby.

5. Backtrack to Queen Street. Check out the food stalls here and have dinner. Then when it's cooler, negotiate a fee with the trishaw riders to take you around the area.

6. MRT back to your hotel.
