Singapore Tour Plan for First Timers

Hi, I'm Luisa from Manila. Me, my mom and brother will go to Singapore on June 10-13.

We will arrive at 10:30am June 10 and depart 2:30pm June 13.

We will stay in Grand Central Hotel, Orchard Road.

Can we get an itinenary because it's our first time to go to Singapore?

We hope to discover Singapore well and truly enjoy the food, sights, shopping, etc.

Thank you.

Thanks for hearing out my questions, Gabriel.

I will wait for the schedule guide that you will make. You have a few days left, anyway. Haha!

4-Day-3-Night Singapore Tour Itinerary for First Timers
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Luisa

here goes:

Day - 1 Afternoon:

1. After checking into hotel, have lunch in or around your hotel. I recommend the local eateries along Killiney Road, a 10-minute walk from your hotel. The Killiney Kopitiam (coffee shop) is famous for their delicious local dishes and kaya toasts.

2. Shop on Orchard Road. You're just right for the Great Singapore Sale. As a family, I believe you'll enjoy these 2 department stores near your hotel:

a. Robinson's @ Centrepoint

b. John Little's @ 228 Orchard Road

These stores do give substantial discounts and offer good value.

Day 1 - Late Afternoon / Evening:

1. Visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens, and especially the National Orchid Garden within its compound. Lovely orchids - over 1000 species and over 2000 hybrids.

Transport to Botanic Gardens:
Take a 10-minute walk from your hotel to Somerset Road. Then take on of the following buses:

7, 106, 123, 174

2. Dinner at Halia Restaurant, located at a lovely spot in the Gardens and surrounded by a variety of ginger plants.

Alternatively, exit from the Gardens' Tanglin Gate and walk across the road to the restaurants on Dempsey Road / Dempsey Hill. You can browse the specialty shops here after dinner.

Day 2 - A Day on Sentosa Island

Take a Sentosa Island Day Tour.

If shopping is a major on your holiday, you may want to replace part of your day on Sentosa with shopping at Vivo City, which is a mega-mall just across the waters from Sentosa.

Day 3 - Singapore Zoo, Equinox High Tea & City Centre Walk

Day 3's Singapore Tour Itinerary takes you to 3 major spots in Singapore:

1. The much loved Singapore Zoo (I'm a fan!).

2. Equinox Restaurant - a restaurant 226m up in the sky and which offers panoramic views of the city.

3. A walk through the Marina Bay / Singapore River area - where it all began for Singapore.

Day 4 - Morning

Browse the shops and temples in Little India, followed by some last-minute shopping at Mustafa Centre (in Little India).

Have a great holiday in Singapore.

Singapore for First Timers
by: Luisa

Hello, thank you for posting. I almost lost hope - that the you will no longer post itinerary for us.

I found out that on the 2nd day, we have a free half day city tour. The problem is the tour operator in Singapore can't commit if the tour is a.m. or p.m.

I will print your itinenary for us tomorow to discuss with my brother.

My mom is over 60. We cannot make her walk too long but going to sentosa is our top priority. Next is food, next would be to shop and visit art galleries. My brother is into art collecting.

I will keep you posted. Thank you again! Wednesday is almost near.

A Place in Singapore to Look at Art
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Luisa

I apologise for taking so long to come up with the itinerary. I've been busy with other things.

The following art places may interest your brother:

1. Singapore Art Museum

It's just a short bus ride from your hotel, down on Bras Basah Road.

Lots of works from famous local and regional artists. They have a small corner selling some artwork as well.

2. Art @ Emily Hill
(11 Upper Wilkie Road; Nearest MRT: Dhoby Ghaut)

This is an interesting place to quietly walk through. More and more artists are 'setting up shop' in this area.

Grab a free Singapore City Map at the Airport's Visitors' Centre. You'll see all these places on the map.

Have a good holiday.
