Singapore Stopover with Change of Airlines

I will be arriving in Singapore on British Airways at 5pm and leaving the next morning at 7am with Garuda airlines. Will I need to clear customs and immigration? Can I use the transit lounges/ resting lounges?

Scenario 1 - Code-sharing Flight

If the 2 segments of your journey are part of a *code-sharing flight on a single ticket, your checked-in luggage may be transferred onto your onward flight for you. In this case, you need not clear customs. The only way you can be sure of this arrangement is to verify it with British Airways.

* Code-sharing:
Airlines sometimes share each other's planes for a particular route. They might otherwise not operate this route profitably if each had run the route on its own.

Scenario 2 - 2 Separate Tickets

If you have bought the flights on 2 separate and different tickets, you'll need to clear customs, collect your luggage and check in again for your onward flight.

In this case, if you intend to use the transit rest lounge, you should not clear customs first. Instead, go straight to use the rest lounges in the transit area. After you've rested, you can then proceed to clear customs, collect your luggage from the Lost & Found Counter and check-in again for your onward flight.
