Singapore Stopover: Transfer between Two Different Airlines

by Anil Joag
(Mumbai India)

I am travelling from Mumbai to Sydney via Changi Airport.

How will my luggage get transferred from my Kingfisher Airlines to Qantas Airways if those airlines do not work with each other. Also how do I travel from terminal 1 to terminal 3 with my luggage. Please note I do not have Singapore visa.

About Visa, Luggage and Transfer at Changi Airport
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Anil

1. As an Indian passport holder heading for Australia, you should verify with the Singapore Embassy in Mumbai if you qualify for a Visa Free Transit Facility (VFTF), which allows you to enter Singapore for up to 96 hours.

Otherwise, a Singapore visa is needed in advance.

Follow these steps to fulfill Singapore entry requirements.

2. Once you have fulfilled Singapore entry requirements, you'll need to do the following upon arrival at Changi:

a. Clear immigration checks and collect your checked in luggage.

b. Take the free Skytrain from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1. (Signboards will direct you. Or ask.)

c. Re-check in for your Qantas flight to Sydney, Australia.
