by Suba

We 11 people are going to visit Singapore.

1. Which is the best shopping mall?

2. Shall we purchase mobiles? Will they work in our place? (India)

Some reviews show that mobiles are usually not working. They will create some problems. Is it true?

About Shopping Malls and Buying Handphones
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi

Finding Bargains in Singapore Malls

1) You could consider shopping at Mustafa Centre. They are a reputable store, and has long been a safe place for tourists to shop. I buy quite a lot of my household stuff there.

Near Mustafa Centre, there are also other of bargain shops along Serangoon Road.

2) If you venture out to the heartland towns, such as Toa Payoh and Ang Mo Kio, you'll also find quite a lot of mom-and-pop shops in the areas around the town centres. These are places worth a look as well.

Buying Handphones in Singapore

1) If you plan to buy mobile phones, Mustafa is also a good place to browse. Their salespeople are generally quite knowledgeable and are likely to tell whether a particular handphone can work in India.

2) Another place worth checking out is Funan IT Mall (5 minutes' walk from City Hall MRT Station).

3) You may have heard of Sim Lim Square. This is Singapore's biggest consumer electronics mall. But you need to be very good at bargaining to shop here.

If you go to the right shop, you may get a tremendously good bargain. If you go to the wrong one, you will get overcharged severely - and a handphone you regret buying.
