1. To get closer to the sights on the River?
   
   You may want to do a half-cruise half-walking-tour combo. For example, you could start with a one-way River Taxi from Liang Court to Merlion Park, which will give you an overview of the Singapore River.
   
   Thereafter, you could take a walking tour of the River in the reverse direction, stopping at wherever you fancy.
   
   
   
2. The best time to take the cruise?
   
   Start the cruise between 7pm and 7.30pm.
   
   Why?
   
   It is not too hot. The sky is not too dark. The lights on the bridges and buildings have just come on. The silhouettes of the skyscrapers are at their most interesting. And if there are clouds, there'll be hues of pink, orange and blue. You get the idea... ;-)
   
   
   
3. If you are at the Marina Bay malls or the Singapore Flyer?
   
   To start a cruise, there's no need to travel all the way to a jetty at the Singapore River. The Esplanade Jetty (by Hippo Cruise) is just a 10-15 minute walk away.
