Singapore MRT Travel with a Small Kid

Hi

We're traveling to Singapore in March and we're going to stay at the Peninsula Excelsior Hotel near City Hall.

Our flight arrives at 9:30PM, which means our son (3 years old) will be very tired after a six-hour flight. We have only one big bag and one small one. Will it be too hard for us to take MRT to the hotel or do you recommend that we take a cab?

MRT Possible; Taxi Better

Hi there

Even with a young child, it is possible to take the MRT from Changi Airport to your hotel.

But please note the following:

1. Your MRT trip from Changi Airport to City Hall station will involve one change of train at Tanah Merah Station.

2. At that time of the night, you'll probably get seats on the train. The Changi Airport Station is a terminal station; Tanah Merah Station is quite near the beginning of the train line.

However, seating is not guaranteed. And you are likely to face a larger passenger crowd as the train nears the city.

3. There's a 5-minute walk from the City Hall station to your hotel.

I would say that the MRT is possible, but the taxi is recommended. (A taxi trip from the airport to Peninsula Excelsior at that time of the night is likely to cost about S$20-25.)
