View of fireworks from balcony of bay-facing room, Swissotel the Stamford
My family love to watch fireworks but I had always find it very stressful to watch it with 2 kids in tow.
I had tried to watch it from the Marina Promenade, Marina Boulevard and even MayBank Tower. At MayBank Tower, the view is good but imcomplete without the sound effect.
This year, I had decided to check my family into Swissotel the Stamford to watch the fireworks.
I was skeptical initially because I thought the windows will be concealed like the Maybank Tower. Furthermore, staying in a Singapore hotel is an unexciting experience and a waste of money.
For this room, I had to pay the rate of $160++ per night for a minimum of 2 nights. This is really a special rate indeed from the Feed at Raffles card that my husband bought for $588+.
Upon check-in on 23 August 08, I was very pleased to be given Room 5455 (54th floor!). When I open the door, the room is big and clean and best of all, the view is awesome! I had initially thought to be the pathetic concealed windows with harbour view turned out to be a walkout balcony!
The view from the balcony was exhilarating, Shenton Way and Singapore River on my right. Esplanade, Marina Centre, Singapore Flyers and Suntec City in front and Tanjong Rhu and East Coast on my left. Best of all, the sound and visual effects from the room during the fireworks was fantastic!
We watched the fireworks for 2 consecutive nights and it is definitely a 5-star rating experience ;p
