Singapore Day Tour During Chinese New Year

Dear all,

My family will travel to Singapore this coming Chinese New Year.

Can anybody advice a 1 day tour package for reference? We have 4 adults and a 2-year-old baby.

PS. Do Singaporeans speak Chinese?

Suggestions for CNY Singapore Tour

Hi Maris

1. Don't worry about the language. More than 70% of Singaporeans are Chinese and most of us speak Mandarin Chinese - as well as a combination of Teochew, Hokkien, Cantonese and other southern Chinese dialects.

2. It's easy to see Singapore on your own, without joining a tour package. Most of the places can be reached using the MRT trains and buses. Taxis, however, will be difficult to flag down during Chinese New Year.

3. For a few years now, many museums (e.g. the National Museum) offer free entry on Chinese New Year's Day.

The major attractions such as Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, Jurong Bird Park and Sentosa are all open during this time.

The Sentosa Flower Festival during this time is also worth visiting, and its free.

3. You might want to take a look at these do-it-yourself Singapore tour plans. Specific details about transport, duration and location are all provided, so you could actually print them out and use them as is.

More Things to Do on Chinese New Year

Hi Manis,

You might want to catch the River Hong Bao at the Floating Platform in Marina Bay. Huge Lanterns will be lighted up to usher in the New Year!

Singapore Flyer will also be open. Operational Hours are extended till 1am on Chinese New Year Eve. You might even want to catch the fireworks when you're up in the sky!
