Singapore Cityscoops Recommended!
- The Alternative Singapore Travel Guide
Singapore Cityscoops is not a mainstream travel guide, but a great companion to whatever other guide book you take to Singapore.
Singapore Cityscoops beats all the rest hands down when it comes to hidden travel gems. They specialise in revealing yet-to-be-discovered hotspots and activities.
For example, they tell you about a karaoke-singing taxi driver and how to book him for a guided tour. They also reveal where you could attend an organic cooking class in a village on an offshore island.
You get this feeling that the editorial team spends all their waking hours sniffing out these gems, and enjoy it.
Singapore Cityscoops' writers present the most pertinent facts from a very interesting perspective. It contains limited but exceptionally captivating photos of the featured places. The attractions are grouped by region and listed on sectional maps, so it's easy to plan a route to each of these.
What's not so good:
They may be the first to uncover the new gems, but quite a few of their listings are actually well-known places. To be fair to Singapore Cityscoops, these are also good recommendations. Moreover, few places remain undiscovered for long on a small island like ours.
I don't think this guide is intended to be a stand-alone guide for visitors. There isn't a section on Singapore History, Geting to Singapore, Getting Around Singapore, and so on. Which means you are safer using this together with one of the more comprehensive guides listed below.
Get Singapore Cityscoops if you want to know where the locals go to amuse themselves. You'll find many recommendations not yet discovered by the mainstream travel guides.
