Reputable Camera Shops at Sim Lim Square?

Hi, my family and I are going to Singapore this coming Oct 26-29. I want to buy a Canon 500D camera but don't know which camera shop is more reputable.

I chose Sim Lim Square because it is just a block or two away from our hotel. I have two stores on my mind as of now and had read comments from their customers. One is Orient Photo and the other one is Alan Photo:

1. Are these camera shops I've mentioned reputable?

2.Does anyone know how much a Canon 500D Kit I costs, including the freebies?

Thanks in advance coz I'm doing some canvassing as early as now. :)

Hi Lim

I've not visited Orient Photo, so I can't give you feedback about them.

But I have had positive experience at Alan Photo. I've found the salespeople there knowledgeable. And they are willing to let you have a closer look at the equipment.

GST inclusive

Thanks that was a big help but also want to ask about the GST inclusive for the camera... Do I really need to get a gst inclusive? coz the price would get higher if I do.

GST in Compulsory at Point of Purchase

Hi Lim

You'll have to pay GST at these shops at the point of purchase.

But the Tourist Refund Scheme allows you to get a GST refund at the airport, subject to some conditions.

Before you buy from the shop, verify that the shop is participating in the Tourist Refund Scheme. Show them your passport, verify with them that you qualify for a GST refund, fill up the forms and get the shop to certify it.
