Repeated Entry into Singapore Airport Restricted Area?
by Erwin Timmerman
|"After check-in, is it possible to repeatedly enter and exit the secure area of Singapore Airport?"|
We are traveling from New Zealand to Amsterdam with SIA. Our flight arrives at 17:45, and to get some rest and see a bit of Singapore we will depart to Amsterdam on 23:45 the NEXT DAY instead of on the same day.
I have seen somewhere that it is possible with SIA to already check-in 48 hours in advance. In case we need to collect our checked baggage at the airport, is it possible to check the baggage back in immediately (being less than 48 hours before the flight departs), and then go back to the Transit Hotel to sleep?
The next morning, would we be able to enter Singapore again and in the evening to go back to the transit area, given that this would be the SECOND time we would enter the secure area on the same boarding pass?
Given your circumstances, I recommend that you check into a budget hotel in downtown Singapore
and save yourself the hassle of repeated entries into the restricted area of Singapore Airport.
This is a puny island that measures 42km at its widest.
Besides, the road distance from the airport to a city hotel is about 15km. It's easy to get into the city by taxi or the MRT.
By using a city hotel, you save on commute time and put yourself close to the major city sights.
Have a good trip.
