Regarding Luggage in Singapore Transit

by Ray
(Auckland, New Zealand)

I am travelling from New Zealand to India via Singapore. I have got a 12 hrs halt at Singapore. I was just wondering, do I need to collect my luggage at Singapore Airlines or will it be transfered automatically to my connecting flight to India?

It depends on what ticket you've bought

Hi Ray

1. If you have bought NZ-India on a single ticket - with only a transit stopover in Singapore - the airline normally puts your luggage on your onward flight from Singapore to India. You don't need to clear customs.

But please verify this when you are checking in your luggage in New Zealand.

2. If you have bought 2 separate tickets - i.e. NZ-Singapore on one ticket and Singapore-India on another - you'll have to clear customs, collect your luggage and check in again at Singapore Airport.

Which is your case?

Have a good stopover in Singapore.
