My friend is leaving home to the US and I would like to pack a box of local fruits for is family to enjoy. How do I pack these fruits for him to bring home?

How to Pack the Fruits
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Praveen

1. Fruits in cabin luggage

>> Ensure that the fruits and everything else do not exceed 7kg.

2. Fruits in checked in luggage

>> Pack into no more than 2 pieces of luggage in total (I believe that's the 'piece-wise' regulation for flights to the US)

>> Abide by the checked luggage weight allowance for the class of seating used.

No matter how you send the fruits over, use cartons/boxes/containers that will withstand the rough treatment by airport handlers.

3. I believe that the US has some regulations governing the import of fruits/plant. You may want to check if the fruits you intend to send over are allowed into the US.

Many countries have similar restrictions, as a safeguard against plant diseases. For example, you cannot take oranges into Australia.
