It's the Sri Mariamman Temple
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Martin

if by 'Indian temple' you mean 'Hindu temple', then the answer is the Sri Mariamman Temple on South Bridge Road, smack curiously in the middle of Chinatown.

It was built in 1827 as a wood-and-thatch structure, but was rebuilt in 1843 into a beautiful brick-and-plaster temple, which is the basis of what you'll see today if you go on a Chinatown walking tour.
