Hello.

If a UK person carries her pet from the UK to Singapore, what are the neccessary actions for allowing her dog to be left here?

Items needed for the import of pets into Singapore

According to the Agrifood & Veterinary Authority (AVA) website, the pet owner will need to:

1. obtain an import permit no more than 30 days before the date of arrival,

2. ensure that the pet meet the AVA's veterinary and quarantine conditions,

3. obtain a suitable animal container and make the necessary animal transport arrangements with the airline.

Quarantine and Other Costs

so in this case, since its from UK, do i still need to quarantine the dog?

and do you know about the cost? i mean i know about the one pet 50 dollar thingy. but other than that are there more cost??

Quarantine Needed & Other Costs Depends On...

Hi Mabel

1. as of 11 Feb 09, this AVA document says that no quarantine is needed for a pet dog imported from the UK. This is provided all the other veterinary conditions are met, e.g. health certification from a qualified vet, etc.

2. Other costs include:

a. costs of meeting the veterinary conditions as specified in the document above. Some of these conditions include: health certification by a vet no more than 7 days before shipment, vaccinations, etc.

All these preparations will incur costs - check with your vet in the UK.

b. other costs associated air transport of your dog and the container needed to hold it in flight.
