Imported Goods Damaged: Can I Claim Back GST?

I have a friend who imports auto parts into Singapore. GST was paid for it. However, some parts were defective and cannot be sold.

How do we claim back the GST paid?

GST cannot be claimed back even if the goods are damaged.

The issue with the damaged goods lies with the supplier, and you should seek to correct the situation with them.

Yes the damaged goods will be replaced by the supplier who will send a replacement for which you pay new GST again.

Another option is they will not charge you for the damaged goods sent but then you had already paid for the 7% GST.

If you ask the supplier to compensate you the 7% GST, they will ask you get it back from where it went to.
