Hotels Near Or At Singapore Airport

by Sandy
(London)

We will be making a flying stop in Singapore for one night before heading onto to Sabah early next morning.

Flight lands in SIN early evening so we'll take a taxi into the city and want to return as close as possible to Singapore airport to rise early for our onward flight to Sabah with Jetstar Airways at 6am!

1) Can you please recommend a mid range hotel in or close to Singapore airport? Budget would be around £50 or a twin room.

2) Please recommend some tips/sites for places where we should stay when we arrive in Kota Kinabalu in Sabah for 3 days.

Thank you!

Singapore Airport Hotels: A Few Options
by: Gabriel Tan

1) Can you please recommend a mid range hotel in or close to Singapore airport? Budget would be around £50 for a twin room.

The Airport Transit Hotel, which is in the restricted zone, would have been ideal. But Jetstar does not offer early check in, so you can't use the Transit Hotel.

So here's what you can do:

a) A possible option is the Crowne Plaza Hotel Changi Airport, which is smack in the middle of the airport and easily accessible from all the terminals.

However, it might not be a cost effective option, since you are paying a full rate for what is essentially a few hour's snooze. Crowne's rates start from upwards of S$180 (about £75).

b) Alternatively, you could check into a trusty budget hotel in the city.

Taxis cruise the streets in Singapore, even past midnight. So you'll have no problem taking a taxi to the airport even at 4am. Look for them on the street. Or for a booking fee of roughly S$3-5, simply ask your hotel to arrange one for you. (Note: The booking fee will be added to your final fare.)

I've done this write up on cheap hotels in Singapore with reasonably good reviews.

2) Please recommend some tips/sites for places where we should stay when we arrive in Kota Kinabalu in Sabah for 3 days.

I've never been to Kota Kinabalu. But I know that Tune Hotel Kota Kinabalu has been getting positive reviews.

As I write this, I'm listening to the birds chirping from the balcony of my hotel in the Cameron Highlands. I'm going to stay at the Tune Hotel KL Central the next couple of days.

If you could wait, I'll do a brief review here and maybe post a photo or two. That way you get a sense of what the Tune Hotel chain is all about.
