GST Refund on Items Shipped Out of Singapore?

Dear Sir/ Madam

I bought a used Noritsu digital lab system direct from a photo shop and I am going to ship it to Karachi in Pakistan, my home country.

I paid 7% GST on the value. My question is whether I can get this GST refunded according to the GST Law. If yes how should I claim it?

Will my shipping company help me or will I get refunded at the airport if I show my shipping documents?

GST Refund Only for Tourists & Goods for Personal Consumption

Hi Aqeel Anjarwala

GST (Goods and Services Tax) refund in Singapore is given under the 'Tourist Refund Scheme'.

To get a refund on GST in Singapore, a person must be a tourist taking the goods out of Singapore through the airport for personal consumption, amongst other criteria.

GST is not refunded on:

1. goods shipped out of Singapore by freight (by land, sea or air),

2. goods exported for commercial purposes,

3. goods and services consumed in Singapore (e.g. hotel accommodation, restaurant meals, etc),

4. goods that you cannot present, together with relevant forms, for inspection at the airport.

As such, you cannot claim GST refund on the photo printing machine which you've bought.
