GST Refund for Tourists Exiting Singapore by Land or Sea?

(Reader's Question)

Will I be able to claim a GST refund if I use the train to exit the country? I'm a tourist who is planning on flying to Malaysia then take another flight to Singapore and after doing some shopping there, take the train back to Malaysia and then again take another flight home.

I know that I can claim the GST if I'm flying out of Singapore at the airport, but can I do it if I'm using the train instead?

GST Refund Only at Singapore Airports

Hi there

GST refund may only be claimed by tourists leaving Singapore by the airports - Changi Airport and Seletar Airport.

No GST refund is possible for tourists leaving by land or sea transport.

There is no GST refund for goods taken out by land or sea. In any case, I'm not the person to grant you any GST refund.
