Aug/Sep 2010: Singapore Fireworks Celebrations (Event to be confirmed!)

Ticketed event at Marina Bay Floating Platform. In 2008, fireworks went off about 9pm on 22 & 23 Aug. The section below tells you where to see them for free.

Best Hotels to See Fireworks in Singapore
(For Launches at Marina Bay)

  1. Swissotel the Stamford

    • Highly recommended!

    • Rooms from Level 68 downwards, with balconies.

    • Highest possible view of fireworks.

    • Compare rates from multiple sites for Swissotel The Stamford Hotel:

      Swissotel The Stamford Singapore

  2. Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore

    • Highly recommended.

    • Want to see the fireworks while soaking in a bath tub? This is it.

    • Compare and find the best rates for Ritz Carlton Millenia.

  3. The Fullerton Hotel

    • May not have the height of all the other hotels. But this heritage gem is closest to the action and has rooms that face the fireworks area.

    • Compare and find the best rates for Fullerton Hotel Singapore.

  4. Mandarin Oriental Singapore

  5. Marina Mandarin Hotel Singapore

  6. Pan Pacific Singapore Marina Bay

Remember to book a room facing Marina Bay!

Best Picnic and Photography Spots

  1. For fireworks launched from Esplanade Bridge
    (e.g. Chinese New Year 2008)

See it at the waterfront promenade outside Esplanade Theatre.

    • Nearer to Esplanade Bridge if you want to feel the impact of the fireworks.

    • Farther from Esplanade Bridge if you want all the fireworks sparks in your photo. Otherwise, use a wide angle if you want to go near the Bridge.

    • Probably the most crowded spot during all fireworks launch, except the Chinese New Year one.

    • Suitable to take children to.
  1. For fireworks launched from Marina Bay Floating Platform and surrounding area
(National Day, Singapore Fireworks Celebrations, New Year's Eve)

    See it at...
  • Marina Boulevard Open Field

    • A fireworks photographer's favourite. You get sweeping views across the water towards the Marina Bay hotels.

    • However, you need a wide angle lens to get all the fireworks in (e.g. 10-22mm). I could not get everything in with a 28-135mm lens set to 28mm.

    • Possible for a family picnic if you arrive early enough. I saw families with mats and portable chairs during the NDP Preview on 2 Aug 08.

    • Dec 2009 Update:
Lots of construction work is ongoing at Marina Boulevard. A large area has been sealed off. The viewing area has been greatly reduced, and you are likely to catch a glimpse of the fireworks from the pedestrian walkway only.

  • the Merlion Park

    • Go to the Merlion Park if you want to hear the loud booms and to feel the fireworks 'falling on you'.

    • A difficult place to get everything into your camera unless you use a fish eye lens or a wide-angle lens.

    • Suitable to take children to, but crowded. You'll need to get there early and occupy the kids meaningfully.

  • the Esplanade Bridge

    • A good place if you want the Merlion included in your fireworks photos.

    • However, you still need to a wide-angle lens because the fireworks are pretty near.

    • This spot is incredibly crowded during the New Year's Eve Countdown fireworks.

  • the Esplanade Theatre Waterfront Promenade

    • As described above. A very convenient spot overall.

    • You need to find a good spot if you don't want to see the construction sites in your fireworks photos.

  • Marina East

    • January 2010 Update:
There used to be a secluded area at the water's edge. However, the route to this area has now been blocked by the contractor building the Gardens @ Marina East. We now await the opening of Gardens @ Marina East. Watch this space!

    • Some shots of the NDP fireworks I took from here in the past.

  • Marina Barrage

    • Take the MRT to Marina South Station.

    • Then SBS Bus No. 400 or the Marina Barrage Shuttle Bus to the Barrage.

  • Clifford Pier
    • A small area available to the public. Better if you book a seat at One on the Bund restaurant (see below).
