Duty on Left Luggage at Singapore Airport

by A Williams
(France)

If I put the luggage in left luggage at the airport, while I go to Malaysia for 1 week, en route to Australia, will I have to pay duty?

What is the name of Singapore station main line to Malaysia please?

Duties only on Alcohol and Tobacco

Hi Mrs Williams

1. There's no duty levied on left luggage at Singapore Airport.

But the left luggage services are run by private companies, who obviously charge for the service. How much you pay depends on the weight and shape of your luggage.

Each person is entitled to take a specified amount of alcoholic drinks into Singapore without paying duty. See this page about alcoholic drinks allowance at Singapore Airport. So if the amount in your left luggage is within these limits, you're ok.

I suppose you're not taking cartons upon cartons of alcoholic drinks with you?

2. The train station in Singapore that takes you to Malaysia is located at Tanjong Pagar. Please note that it is not the same station as the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit). All taxi drivers will know where this train station is.

Another transport option to Malaysia is the VIP bus. You'll find many companies at Golden Mile Complex on Beach Road running these buses from Singapore to various places in Malaysia.
