Please advise what we should do and the best places for good cheap shopping for clothes for kids and adults, and attractions for the kids. They are 11 yrs and 4 yrs.

What should we do on New Year's Eve?

New Year's Eve in Singapore

There are numerous free events which you could go to on New Year's Eve.

Head to the Marina Bay area:

1. The Esplanade Theatres will be buzzing with performances and such.

2. At midnight, the fireworks go off to welcome the New Year. Here are a list of ways to watch this fireworks display at Marina Bay.

3. You could also buy a ticket to the countdown concert "Celebrate 2010", which also gives you a good view of the fireworks.

Have you had good reports from the Holiday Inn Orchard and the Hilton Orchard?

Thank you.

The Holiday Inn Orchard started operation only a few weeks ago, so not much is known about their service.

I have attended wedding banquets at the Hilton Orchard and have also seen the rooms they offer to the wedding couples. I found their service prompt and good. Their rooms seemed pretty luxurious - and you feel pretty shut out from the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road below.
