Beef jerky from South Africa is delicious and very thoughtful but...

Hi Aretha

I'm always touched when friends from overseas bring me nice souvenirs from their home countries. It's really thoughtful of you to think of the beef jerky for your friends/relatives here.

However, I've just checked the Singapore Agri-food & Veterinary Authority's website, and found out that processed meat from South Africa may not be brought into Singapore.

A small reasonable amount of hand-carried fruit, however, is ok. So you may want to think along this line.

Have a nice trip to Singapore.

Bringing Meat into Singapore
by: Tom

As per the AVA website, 5kgs of Beef/Mutton is allowed to bring from Australia for personnel use.

Q1. Can I hand carry these items?

Q2. Do I need to walk to the custom officer and declare.

No Declaration Needed for Allowed Goods within Limits
by: Gabriel Tan

Hi Tom

If you meet the requirements set by the AVA, you don't need to declare your items.

However, do note that most airlines set a limit of 7kg as the weight of baggage they allow each passenger to carry into the cabin. So your hand-carried items plus meat must be no heavier than 7kg.
