Bird Singing...good places?

A little bird told me that Tiong Bahru is the place, but not sure exactly where or when. Have also heard vague mumblings about Petain Rd and Chinatown.

Do you know anywhere it goes on daily - can't always book a Sunday into my stopover! (But do have one in March) No escaping the dreaded early start here I fear! Many thanks from me and Henry (canary)

Bird Singing Corners in Singapore - 2 Wonderful Spots

Hi Robyn

Do note that bird singing at the Tiong Bahru area doesn't go on every day - I mean that famous arena outside the Link Hotel.

There are 1 or 2 other spots where I've seen bird lovers gather regularly. Let me verify their timings and get back to you.

here goes...

All day bird singing:

Location:
Corner of Blk 151 and Blk 154 Serangoon North Avenue 1 (Next to the coffee shop at Blk 154)

Here's a photo of this bird singing corner at Serangoon North:

When:
All day, but you'll find more hobbyists here at 9am on a Sunday morning than say 4pm on a Wednesday afternoon. Don't go during the evening.

Getting here:
MRT to Ang Mo Kio. Then Bus No. 25 from Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange. Ask driver to alert you when he nears the bus stop opposite Serangoon Community Club. Alight and and use the overhead bridge to get to the Serangoon CC side of the road.

Added attractions here? 4 pet shops selling birds:

1. Chua's Pets Trading (Blk 151 #01-57)

2. Que Feng Birds and Pets Trading
(Blk 154 #01-410)

3. Discus Palace (Blk 154 #01-416)

4. Goodwill Birds Trading (Blk 154 #01-428)

These shops stock some of the most fascinating pet birds - macaws, cockatiels, canaries, and if you are lucky, you might even spot a toucan or two.

All these make your trip here worthwhile if you are a bird hobbyist.

Vibrant on Sat and Sun Mornings:

Ang Mo Kio Street Ave 10 Blk 442 Void Deck. A 10 minute walk from Ang Mo Kio MRT Station. Check the map at the Station.

Hi Gabriel,

another excellent and informative answer, thank you! It doesn't sound like a place I would have found on my own!

I appreciate the directions as I have not ventured to that corner of Singapore before--sounds like an interesting adventure.

I can see that I'll have to come up with much trickier questions for my next trip! (Just kidding...or am I?)
