Where are the best vantage points to watch the Chingay Parade? Is it worth buying tickets for seats?

My Take on Chingay Parade Spots

Hi Keith

my thoughts about where best to watch the Chingay Parade:

1. Ticketed Stands

Last year, I bought the most expensive tickets (Category 1). I found these seats to be comfortable and provide great overall view of the parade. Also, some of the performances on the steps of the City Hall may only be watched from here.

But this is not exactly the best place to take photos or videos of the proceedings. You'll need a good, long lens and steady hands to capture the action.

My take? I think it's worth the price of the ticket.

2. Free views from along the Parade route

Good if you want a closer look at the performers and want to take photographs. But the energy level of some of the performers drop at these free-to-view areas. Also, you'll need to jostle with others for a better view.
