About Free Singapore Tour and Singapore Budget Terminal

I will be in transit at Singapore Airport for about 10 hours.

As an Australian passport holder, i realise i don't need a visa, but is it possible to leave the airport transit area and spend the day in Singapore?

I believe i can take a free tour, but am i able to leave an early tour and pick up a later returning tour?

Also what is this Singapore Budget Terminal? Will I be landing there from London, and why is it so called and what is different about it from other terminals?

Is it possible to leave the airport transit area and spend the day in Singapore?

Absolutely. Just clear customs, go to the Visitors' Centre, get hold of a free Singapore city map, get on the MRT and you're on your way.

If you don't mind waiting a while, there is also a free city shuttle which goes to specified locations in the city. You need to book a seat with the Visitors' Centre in the transit area, before you clear customs.

Each free Singapore city tour is run by a guide, who may not be running subsequent tours. I'm not sure if you could wander off and hop back on a later tour. It'll be difficult to coordinate, for sure.

I'd suggest this: ask if you could leave the tour at the spot you most fancy, and get back to the airport on your own.

If your tour guide allows it, t's easy to get back to the airport yourself. Just find out where the nearest MRT station is and leave at least 2 hours before your onward flight.

Also what is this Singapore Budget Terminal? Will I be landing there from London, and why is it so called and what is different about it from other terminals?

The Singapore Budget Terminal is a separate terminal for low-cost carriers. It's in a separate building from the 3 main terminals at Singapore Airport, but near to them. A free shuttle runs between Terminal 2 and the Budget Terminal.

Currently, the Budget Terminal is used only by Tiger Airways and Cebu Pacific Airways. So your London-Singapore flight will not land at the Budget Terminal.
