3 Day Singapore Tour Itinerary Critique

Hi,

We'll be arriving in Singapore on 23 May by bus from KL around 1230.

I've a Singapore tour itinerary as follows:

Day 1: 23 May 09

1230
- Arrive in Novena Square
- Check in Quality Hotel, Balestier Road

1400
- Lunch and go to Singapore Flyer
- Take a river taxi to Merlion
- Walk along Marina, and take in boat quay

1900
- Dinner at Kampung Malay
- Then visit Little India, Sri Mariamman Temple

Day 2: 24 May 09

0730
- Visit Singapore Zoo, Singapore Botanic Gardens, City Hall, Parliament House

1430
- Lunch at Vivo city

1530
- Go to Sentosa

2100
- Back to Hotel

25 May 09

0800
- Walk around Orchard Road, Bugis Street, Suntec City Convention Centre

1300
- Check out Hotel

1635
- Flight back to Jakarta

Sounds fine, 2nd day abit impossible.

Your itinerary sounds fine. Im from Singapore btw, and i used to work part time in the tourism industry.

Anyway, on your second day at the zoo. The Zoo is at mandai Road, so it is very far away from Vivo city as well as Botanica gardens.

I suggest you put the Botanica gardens on the third day with your journey to orchard road as Botanicaa gardens is just a stone throw away from the Botanica Gardens. Have a nice trip in Singapore!!

Suggested Changes to Day 1 of Your Singapore Tour

thank you for the privilege to comment on your Singapore tour itinerary.

I'll be honest with you and say that some parts of your itinerary are too tight.

Here are a few of my suggestions for a less hectic - and in my opinion more enjoyable - Singapore tour:

Day 1: 23 May 09

1230
- Arrive in Novena Square
- Check in Quality Hotel, Balestier Road

1400
- Lunch and go to Singapore Flyer
- Take a river taxi to Merlion
- Walk along Marina, and take in boat quay

Pretty good up to this point!

1900
- Dinner at Kampung Malay
- Then visit Little India, Sri Mariamman Temple

1. Consider having dinner at Clarke Quay, which is just across the Singapore River from Boat Quay. There are quite a few nice restaurants here.

Kampong Glam, which you call Kampung Malay, is near to but not exactly next to Little India.

So you might want to consider having dinner either at Boat Quay/Clarke Quay or having it in Little India itself. That way, you move about less and have more time to sight-see.

2. Sri Mariamman Temple is in Chinatown, not in Little India. Consider visiting the Sri Veerama Kaliamman Temple in Little India instead (junction of Belilios Street and Serangoon Road).

3. In my opinion, the views from the Flyer, Singapore River and Marina Bay are nicer in the evening. So you might want to visit Little India in the day, and visit the Marina Bay area in the evening.

Suggestions for Day 2 of Your Singapore Tour

Day 2: 24 May 09

0730
- Visit Singapore Zoo, Singapore Botanic Gardens, City Hall, Parliament House

I don't know how you are going to pack in so many places in half a day!

1. The Zoo does not open until 8.30am. So do take note of that if you were planning to arrive any earlier.

2. There are 3 good shows at the Zoo - Splash Safari, Elephants @ Work and The Rainforest Fights Back. These are already included in the zoo entrance fee.

Even watching 2 of these shows will take you up to 12.30pm at least. See the schedule of these shows at Singapore Zoo.

3. Visit the City Hall and Parliament House as part of your walking tour of the Marina Bay area on Day 1.

4. As suggested by Kwok Loong, visit the Botanic Gardens on a separate day (See my suggestions for Day 3).

Or if you spend a little more time at the zoo, you could catch a late lunch or high tea in town and visit the Botanic Gardens later on the same day - when it is less hot.

This mean you'll miss Sentosa, however.

You can actually have a look at this Singapore Zoo + High Tea itinerary.

- Lunch at Vivo City

1530
- Go to Sentosa

2100
- Back to Hotel

Afternoon and evening schedule ok, if you only go to the Zoo in the morning and skip the rest.

- A stroll around the Botanic Gardens

- Walk around Orchard Road
(Remember the shops don't open too early!)

- Check out Hotel

- Flight back to Jakarta

Singapore Tour Itinerary Refining ;-)

Hi Lia

Day 1

1. Lunch at either Kampong Glam or Little India would be fine, as both these places are between Balestier Road and the Flyer.

I enjoyed the cosy atmosphere at a Turkish restaurant called Alaturka Restaurant. It is on Bussorah Street in Kampong Glam (near Sultan Mosque).

2. The Flyer is open till 10.30pm. Last ticket at 10pm.

Day 2

Transport from Zoo to Vivo City:

By taxi:
- time: 30-40 minutes in free-flowing traffic.
- cost: about $15-20 during off-peak hours.

By bus + MRT:
- Bus 138 to Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange.
- MRT from Ang Mo Kio to Harbourfront, via Dhoby Ghaut Station.
- time: about 75-90 min.

Day 3: Orchard Road, Bugis or Both?

I believe doing less is experiencing more. There's enough to keep you occupied in either Orchard Road or Bugis.
