Itinerary for a 18-hour Stopover Tour of Singapore, taking in Marina Bay + Chinatown or Orchard Road.

Hi Gabriel

Glad to see this site holding an amazing amount of information. It's really helpful.

I am traveling to Melbourne and I have a stop over in Singapore for 18 hours. I will be arriving singapore at 6am (19 Dec) in the morning and my next flight is after 18 hours at 12:15 AM (20th Dec). I would like to go around few places during my stopover. I am 29 old female traveling alone. It would be of great help if you could let me know what places i could cover in this time.

I am thinking of Singapore Flyer, Merlion, Chinatown, Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, Botanic Gardens and some shopping at Orchard Road. Will i be able to cover these? What would be the best mode of transport ? Is there any other nearby place which i could see in this timeframe?

Hi Sundari

18 hours of stopover in Singapore may seem a lot. But it's not. So this is what I suggest for your stopover tour of Singapore:

MORNING - EARLY AFTERNOON

EITHER

Option 1 - Chinatown

Transport: MRT - Changi Airport -> Tanah Merah -> Outram Park -> Chinatown

Catch breakfast at People's Park Food Centre or Chinatown Complex. Then Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and shopping in the conservation areas.

OR

Option 2 - Botanic Gardens & Orchard Road

Transport: MRT - Changi Airport > Tanah Merah > Buona Vista > Botanic Gardens

The Botanic Gardens is home to the National Orchid Gardens, which is a lovely stop if you like the flower. There are a number of buses outside Botanic Gardens that take you to Orchard Road.

LATE AFTERNOON - EVENING

Transport: MRT to Promenade Station

Shop around the Marina Bay area. Then take a sundown flight on the Singapore Flyer around 7pm. Culminate with a gentle stroll along the waterfront promenades at Marina Bay - don't miss the laser show entitled 'Wonder Full' by Marina Bay Sands at 8pm or 9.30pm.

MRT back to Changi Airport.

Have a good stopover tour of Singapore.
